What is This Velvet is actually a mixtape with collaborating artists M. Taylor and Lon-G and I must say it’s an INCREDIBLE piece of work.

Now Let’s get into the REVIEW!

So I pop in the mixtape and it started with the intense intro describing exactly what’s the meaning of the catchy word “Velvet.” The track  was transition brilliantly into the song “Velvet Rope” which is filled with well crafted synthesized sounds and melodies put together by The Shooters (yes, we produced the beat)

One of the most notable things about What is This Velvet is the songs that was chose to be sampled and how Lon-G and M. Taylor decided to approach the tracks.

For example the song “Bag Lady” song number #9 on the mixtape is sampled from Erykah Badu’s song of the same name and was made into a track about Woman and the purses they like to wear…

Not really… It was made into song about picking up woman. This actually one of my favorite songs on the mixtape.

Another song that I found very creative is “Hold On” song number # 13. The song discusses not be afraid to be yourself while being in the cloud of judgment from other people that is trying to keep you down or trying to tell you should go about doing things the same way exactly as other people from the past.

Overall, What is This Velvet? is an AMAZING. Most people should be able to relate to this album, unless you are not a Human…
