I found this film pretty interesting, better yet, Amazing! I found out that Lil’ Wayne does some of the same things I do when it comes to recording and I’m not talking about the weed smoking or syrup-sippin neither.

I’m talking about the portability of his studio equipment and how records on the road or any other place he can setup his laptop. I found that outstanding. Lil’ Wayne puts in work for sure.

Dallas, Tx is a place that’s has many new dance songs and many people from there are getting famous from it. Therefore, the radio stations demand all of the new dance records which has become a popular standard. You can now bring, literally, the club with you anywhere you go in Dallas.

What if the Cops made raps about how their Day to Day Grind as a Police Officer on duty, telling their stories.

I have came up with several things the Crime Watchers can rap about. Hip Hop is about stories of day to day life. Police Officers have a life too, right?

Let’s get into this…

1. The Police rap on the opposite side of the Dope Dealing Rappers. You Know, The Side of The Law. They can rap about the conclusion of catching the Dopeman.
2. 5-0 can Rap about why he or she became a cop in the first place. “Life Before Being a Cop”
3. The Cops could write a song about how gangster of a police officer he or she is.
4. They could talk about how fake another Cop rapper is. “You’re not no real cop, you are a fraud.”
5. The Police could rap about being a Dirty Cop getting paid from all the “bricks” and all the other various drugs getting pushed in the streets. “Your Dirty Money, My Clean Money”
6. The Law can rap about their duties like going on high speed chases and trying to give tickets for not having a seat belt on. “Click It or Ticket”
7. The Police could rap about how you can get in more trouble for dealing with them than they can. One wrong move from you, you can get shot, hit, tazzered, beat up, etc. Turn “Cop Killa” to “Killa Cop.”

The interesting thing is, Would a rapping Police Officer get respect in the Music Recording Industry?

What if the Cops had the lyrical content and the flow to go with it?

What if the Police had “Swag”?

What if the Cops was making mixtapes like Lil’ Wayne and Gucci Mane, selling it out of the trunk of their cars?

Would you be a fan of the “Best Cop Rapper Alive”?

Just think of it this way,

If you get pulled over by a Rapping Cop, you can get a ticket and free mixtape. And if you act an ass with them, you can get a trip to the Police Department and meet all of the famous Hip Hop Coppers.

Do you remember the song “The Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang?

It’s probably the one Hip-Hop song that everybody knows. Ask your Grandmother about it and see if she completes the rest of the verse.

Later on came Rakim and Eric-B, NWA, Ice Cube, Scarface, and more spittin rhymes like poetry- using metaphors and similes. Changing the game up and made the up and comer rappers build their vocabulary.

That verse, from Rappers Delight, is not lyrical what so ever, but the song  is a hit.

Am I wrong?

This was the 80’s, The Golden Age era in Hip-Hop music.

All the Rapper had to do was sound good over the beat the Dj played.

Today, this old method is BACK!

The music that’s being played now especially in Main-Stream Rap is not lyrical, BUT they are hits!

In the ‘90’s, lyrics was a big deal.

Am I wrong?

The beats were simple to the point were it would sound repetitive if the Rapper wasn’t on it rapping.

This sort of made the listener hear what the what the Rapper was talking about which is a good thing.

But somewhere along the lines, The beats became more of a big deal and all the spitter had to do is sound good over it reciting something “catchy.”

Master-P is not lyrical but he made Hits.

All of this is what came to the question, What’s the Difference between a Lyricist and a Hit-Maker?

This is the difference:

The Lyricist

-Writes songs like Poetry

• -Treats his or her lyrics as an expression of art

-Uses Metaphors and Similes

-Usually has a big vocabulary

-Spits something that’s thought provoking

-Typically known as a Back Pack Rapper

-Tells Stories in their rhymes with a Message

The Hit Maker

-Has a Nice Production

-Is not always Lyrical, Mostly

-Doesn’t have any meaning to it

-Just Punch Lines

-A Very “Catchy” Hook

- Songs is played in the Club

- obviously makes Popular Music

I’m not saying that the rappers that are making hits are can’t rap. Jay-Z is a hit maker and he’s lyrical; Lil’ Wayne and Eminem also. But Today’s hits are not lyrical.

Some people just hate lyrical music and just want the rap to be simple- as long as they can’t relate to it.

Some people appreciates lyricism.

In the end, It’s about a word called “Longevity.”

As long as the music provides interests to the people, an artist can make income from his or her work.

This is not just Rap. It’s in Pop, period!

Look at the all the bubble gum songs out there that are simple and easy to remember.

As an artist, I would try to both especially if you’re trying to make and income from music.

However,

One thing… Don’t Stop Being You. Stay true to yourself.

If you are a hit maker focus on making hits, If you take your lyricism seriously focus on your lyrics.

Some people would like your work, some won’t.
